Best ever green smoothie – that’s a big call, but a call we’re willing to make!
I’ve made a decision. There are two types of green smoothie people. People who love theirs fruity, and people who love their packed full of the green stuff. I love my green smoothies fruity, which is why we’ve put together our best ever green smoothie recipe for you.
I love a good green smoothie, and admittedly while it took me a while to get on the green smoothie band wagon, I am now 100% converted to the green smoothie movement. One thing I’ve learnt about making the best green smoothie, is to add plenty of filtered water to smooth it out! My first rooky error making one of these was not adding any water, cue giant blob of almost inedible fruit and spinach! Luckily, now after much practice, I’ve perfected our best ever green smoothie recipe for you!
Green smoothies are the perfect start to the day, and are packed full of nutrients. Smoothies are a great source of fibre too as you don’t extract just the juice from the fruit, but blend up the whole fruit. A green smoothie will definitely kick start your morning, and keep you feeling fuller for longer. I love adding a few extras to mine like matcha powder. Matcha is basically a finely ground green tea powder. I has a TONNE of health benefits, which is my I love adding it to smoothies. Matcha is full of antioxidants, helps boost metabolism, aids in detoxifying the body, boosts mood & aids in concentation and helps lower cholestoral. There are many other benefits, but that is just to name a few. You could always add other superfoods to your smoothies like chia seeds or hemp seeds, but for this particular smoothie, I find just the matcha powder is fine. I also swap between using coconut water or just plain filtered water, just whatever I have in the fridge. I like mine a little runnier so tend to add more water.
Our best ever green smoothie is so light and refreshng. It is absolutely perfect for a hot summer morning, or if you’re looking to pack more fruit into your diet! - 1 green apple, cored
- 1 orange peel and rind removed
- ½ lebanese cucumber
- 5-8 mint leaves
- ½ teaspoon matcha powder
- good sized handful of spinach
- 1 - 1½ cups filtered water or coconut water (add more/less according to taste & preference)
- 3-4 ice cubes
- Blend apple, orange, cucumber, mint, matcha, spinach, water and ice in a good quality blender until smooth and well combined.
- Add more water according to taste.
- Serve immedieately
