Hi There! It's nice to meet you!
I’m Georgie – blogger, recipe developer, photographer, teacher, wife, mum, wine and chocolate lover. I believe that the best memories are made with food, and that coffee is an essential part of the day.

Welcome to The Home Cook’s Kitchen, or theHCK!
About the Blog
theHCK is dedicated to providing tried and tested easy recipes for entertaining, that inspire both novice and confident home cooks.
In my mind, food has the greatest ability to bring people together in the best possible way, and I want to inspire individuals to feel the same love and passion as I do when I cook for the people I love.
I love to cook simple recipes that accentuate high-quality ingredients but don’t skimp out on flavour. My recipes may be simple, but they are NEVER boring! I believe that ‘less is more’ when it comes to cooking, which is why you will always find the ingredients I use in most large supermarkets and recipes that are suited to everyday home cooks.

A Little Bit About Me
Originally from Australia, my husband, Adam, and I moved to Portland Oregon in February 2016. I am a high school Social Studies teacher, however, found myself unable to work for the majority of 2016. I started a food blog while working towards getting my teaching license and found that I developed a love for cooking, writing, and food photography.
I draw inspiration for my recipes from many different aspects of my life. I love to travel, which is a huge inspiration for my food. When I can’t travel, I find inspiration from researching different cuisines, other blogs, family, restaurants and my love for simple and fresh Australian cuisine.
Since becoming a Mum of two, I have found that I am busier than ever, which has changed my approach to cooking. What hasn't changed is my love for cooking for friends and family. So I have become a master of efficiency in the kitchen - cooking recipes that are still incredibly tasty, but fit into my new lifestyle, which is both busy and a bit chaotic!
Nothing makes me happier than being in the kitchen, whipping up something delicious for my family and friends to enjoy. Food has the ability to bring people together in the best way possible, which I why I am here to spread my passion and love for cooking with you by sharing my everday recipes with you.
