Hi There! It’s nice to meet you!
I’m Georgie – blogger, recipe developer, photographer, teacher, wife, wine and chocolate lover. I believe that everything in life is made better with food, coffee is an essential part of the day, and that there is no such thing as too many kitchen gadgets.
Welcome to The Home Cook’s Kitchen, or THCK!
About the Blog
THCK is dedicated to providing tried and tested recipe for home cooks seeking recipes for entertaining.
Entertaining is my favorite thing to do, and I want to show you that hosting friends or family doesn’t have to be a full-blown fancy affair, by providing some simple tips and tricks, and of course, delicious homemade recipes for all occasions.
I love to cook simple recipes that accentuate high-quality ingredients but don’t skimp out on flavor. My recipes may be simple, but they are NEVER boring! I believe that ‘more is less’ when it comes to cooking, which is why you will always find the ingredients I use in most large supermarkets and recipes that are suited to everyday home cooks.
I love cooking using seasonal, fresh ingredients and the majority of my recipes are made from scratch, with minimally processed ingredients where possible. I love to use local and ethically sourced foods, sustainable foods when I can.
My hope is that THCK inspires you as home cooks, to find joy and fun in home entertaining. I want to spread my passion and joy of food, and show you that food is able to bring people together in the best possible way.
Home entertaining doesn’t have to be complicated and you’ll find recipes are all occasions. If you’re looking to host a romantic dinner for two, a simple dinner for four, or seeking a recipe for a beautiful comfort meal, a healthy salad, a great homemade ice cream, or a cheeky cocktail or two then you’ve come to the right place!
A Little Bit About Me
Originally from Australia, my husband, Adam, and I moved to Portland Oregon in February 2016. I am a high school Social Studies teacher, however, found myself unable to work for the majority of 2016. I started a food blog while working towards getting my teaching license and found that I developed a love for cooking, writing, and food photography.
I draw inspiration for my recipes from many different aspects of my life. I love to travel, which is a huge inspiration for my food. When I can’t travel, I find inspiration from researching different cuisines, other blogs, family, restaurants and my cravings for Australian food!
I currently reside in Portland, with my husband Adam and golden retriever Archie, but am originally from Melbourne, Australia.
Nothing makes me happier than being in the kitchen, whipping up something delicious for my family and friends to enjoy. Food has the ability to bring people together in the best way possible, which I why I am here to spread my passion and love for cooking with you.
